The 17th Global Labour University International Conference
The UP School of Labor and Industrial Relations (UP SOLAIR) will host the 17th Global Labour University (GLU) International Conference on 7-9 December 2026. The conference carries the theme, Labour in the Era of Polycrisis: Visions, Strategies and Actions, and is divided into four tracks: (1) Labour in the changing geopolitical world, (2) Confronting rising authoritarianism, (3) Polycrisis and economic instability, and (4) Ecological crisis and labour.
About 150 academics, scholars, labour leaders and activists, policymakers, and practitioners from 40 countries around the world are expected to come together in the conference to explore and discuss the potential and possibilities of the labour movement to shape society’s choices beyond the business as usual in responding to the polycrisis.
The Steering Committee of the conference is composed of academics and scholars from the GLU’s partner universities – Berlin School of Economics and Law (Germany), GLU Online Academy (Germany), Jawaharlal Nehru University (India), Pennsylvania State University (USA), Rutgers University (USA), University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (Switzerland), University of Campinas (Brazil), University of Kassel (Germany), University of the Philippines School of Labor and Industrial Relations (Philippines), and the University of the Witwatersrand (South Africa).
The conference is jointly organized by UP SOLAIR and the GLU. UP SOLAIR is a member of the partner network of the GLU (https://global-labour-university.org/about/network/).
